The 10 most recent official updates we track, newest first, from May 27, 2026 to Oct 6, 2026. Hotfixes and minor updates that Riot Games posted separately are listed as their own entries.
This is the patch Worlds is played on. Riot tones down pro staples Ambessa, Ashe, Cassiopeia, K'Sante and Yunara, buffs weaker picks like Kennen, Kindred, Lillia, Swain and Smolder, and cuts Hextech Rocketbelt's ability haste from 20 to 10 while raising its active damage. Replays become private, and League Classic adds Aatrox, Caitlyn, Irelia, Karma, and Quinn and Valor.
This is the last patch before the Worlds patch. Riot nudges up fringe picks (Aatrox, Aphelios, Aurora, Draven, Elise, Fiora, Kha'Zix, Lillia and Volibear) and knocks down meta outliers including Nasus, Nocturne, Poppy, Rumble, Ryze and Vi. Top laners get faster role quest Teleport cooldowns, melee support starter items shift flat health into health regeneration, and League Classic adds Fizz, Graves, Nami and Nautilus.
This patch nerfs pro support staples Nautilus and Bard, taps down Seraphine bot, Syndra and Zeri, and adjusts Cassiopeia to cut her laning power while giving back some scaling. Viego, Zaahen, Master Yi, Ekko and Kassadin get buffs, and League Classic adds Fiora, Galio, Poppy, Shyvana and Xin Zhao along with the first Council poll results.
This patch nerfs Nasus and Vayne in top lane, along with Xerath, Nocturne and Graves, and buffs melee AD carries Irelia, Qiyana, Yasuo and Yone so they can scale into the late game. Sundered Sky is nerfed further and Stormrazor gets more attack speed. League Classic adds rune page and progression buffs, champion swapping, the first Council vote, art updates and about 20 balance changes.
This patch targets early support roaming and bot lane mages: the support role quest penalty outside bot lane grows, Hail of Blades loses early attack speed, ADCs get more early magic resistance, and Chainlaced Crushers and Spellslinger's Shoes shift mage power back to mid. AD fighter items are reshuffled away from Sundered Sky, jungle pets scale better for AP and tank junglers, and League Classic adds Akali, Kennen and Shen plus gold, turret and Homeguard changes.
This patch starts Season 3 with an update to Bel'Veth that moves her early power into her mid and late game, including a permanent ultimate form once she has enough stacks. Locke, Naafiri, Riven, Sylas and Mordekaiser are nerfed, Aegis of Valor now only pays out on wins, and Master players can duo again with players close to their rank.
This patch tunes down Locke, Garen, Jayce, Senna and Seraphine and helps Azir with rune interaction changes, while Corki, Mordekaiser, Nami and Yunara get buffs. Immortal Path, Protoplasm Harness and Hextech Rocketbelt are nerfed, Blue Buff grants more ability haste as you level, and Ranked Season 2 ends on July 28.
This patch releases Locke, the Ashen Exorcist, and buffs Aphelios, Draven, Kai'Sa, LeBlanc, Vex and Zaahen plus jungle Olaf, Poppy and Qiyana. Bard, Brand, Cassiopeia, K'Sante, Rek'Sai, Rumble, Senna and Sion are nerfed, Doran's Helm is tapped down, Imperial Mandate gets an easier build path, and Last Hit Indicators come to Normal Draft.
This patch nerfs AP Xin Zhao, Lee Sin, Nocturne, Orianna, Ryze and pro-favorite Varus, and buffs Aatrox, Gwen, Hwei, Jax, Sylas, Syndra, Tristana and Yuumi. Teleport's shield is bigger but much shorter, ARAM: Mayhem adds Ability and multi-tier Quest Augments while removing the Trait System, and Arena buffs AD assassins and many item cooldowns.
This patch shakes up supports: Grubs, Aftershock, Guardian, Locket and Knight's Vow are buffed for tanks, while Summon Aery, Echoes of Helia, Dream Maker and Moonstone Renewer are toned down and Imperial Mandate is reworked around crowd control. Deathfire Touch now deals only magic damage, Brand, Teemo and AP Xin Zhao are nerfed, and ranged Hexplate users lose some Overdrive power.
